Dishwasher Repair — University Place & Tacoma

The most expensive dishwasher faults are the quiet ones — a seep under the tub that reaches the subfloor before anyone smells it. That is why our checklist opens under the machine, at the base pan, before the racks are even touched. Floor first, machine second.

Floor First, Machine Second

Built-ins, panel-fronts and portables all ride the same checklist, whether the kitchen dates from the Eisenhower administration or last spring.

Mary working the racks and rails by flashlight — small faults, found small.

With the kick plate off, the base pan tells the machine's real history — old mineral tracks, fresh moisture, rust on the frame feet. Then a monitored cycle runs while fill level, spray pressure, drain pace and door behavior each get checked off. Faults found this way are found small.

Soft water changes the dishwasher story in this county: the film on your glasses is almost never scale and almost always over-dosing. Some visits end with the honest news that the machine is fine and the detergent measure is not — no parts, small invoice, problem gone.

Pumps, valves, arms, latches, gaskets and control boards are all truck-stock or next-day. A cracked tub is the one verdict with no good repair, and when the checklist finds one we say retire, in writing, rather than billing hours against the inevitable.

What the Intake Call Hears

  • Sump holding water after the cycle ends
  • Glassware fogged or gritty out of the top rack
  • Anti-flood switch tripping and locking the controls
  • Drips tracking from a door corner onto the kick plate
  • Wash cycle stretching past three hours
  • Detergent pod left half-dissolved in the door

The Three Questions That Precede It

The anti-flood error keeps coming back after resets.

Water is reaching the pan — a reset clears the symptom, not the seep. The checklist finds the source; sometimes one overfill, sometimes a tired pump seal. Either way resetting it forever is not a plan.

It hums but never fills.

Inlet valve or float, usually a one-visit fix. Check the under-sink stop first — a closed supply valve stars in more of these calls than anyone would guess.

Can you re-mount a dishwasher that came loose from the counter?

Yes — re-mounting and re-leveling are part of repair work. Full new-unit installs with plumbing changes are the one thing we hand to installers.

Racks out, rails lit — dishwasher faults get caught while they are still cheap.

Mary checking the drum and door of an opened dryer beside its matching washer
Door off, drum checked — the forty-minute standard starts with eyes on the hardware.
