The Ten Questions Intake Answers Daily

Anything missing here gets answered faster by phone — (564) 221-8355, and a human picks up.

How soon can a technician actually arrive?

Same-day arrivals are available most weekdays for calls that land before mid-morning, with no-cool refrigerators and freezers triaged to the front. Later calls take the next morning’s first slots. The dispatch point being inside University Place is what keeps those words honest.

What does the visit cost, and how does pricing work?

A stated diagnostic visit charge, quoted at booking. The diagnosis produces one written price for the complete repair on your job sheet — approved by you before work starts. No hourly meter, no menu of padded flat rates.

What is a job sheet exactly?

The written record of your visit: what was measured, what the readings meant, what was quoted, what was done. Yours to keep, and ours to reference when the machine or its housemate acts up two winters later.

Do you repair every brand?

Yes — mainstream, premium and discontinued alike, on an independent basis. We hold no factory authorizations and claim none; what we hold is instruments, procedure, and the parts channels for everything from Speed Queen to Sub-Zero.

Gas appliances too?

Gas dryers and ranges, yes — the full burner chain on the appliance side of the shutoff valve. The supply side belongs to a plumber, and the job sheet routes you there whenever the fault crosses that line.

Do you work for landlords and property managers?

Constantly. Job sheets forward cleanly to owners, quotes come in writing, tenants get scheduled directly, and invoices behave for bookkeepers. Standing arrangements welcome.

Do you deal with insurance companies or home warranties?

No. The shop works for the household or owner who calls — one relationship, one invoice, nobody’s adjuster between your machine and its repair.

Old appliance — repair or replace?

The job sheet answers with numbers: repair price against the machine’s age, condition and parts future. Old platforms often win on merit. When they lose, we say retire and step aside — the shop sells no appliances, so the verdict has no thumb on the scale.

Is the work guaranteed?

Parts and workmanship both — the terms print on the job sheet with the quote. Should the identical fault resurface within that period, the follow-up costs you nothing.

What makes the intake call go fastest?

Plain words about what the machine is doing, the model number if it is easy to reach, and any code the display shows. Sixty seconds of intake usually loads the truck with the right part.

Bench notes

Mary & Derek at Work

Mary testing a washer control board with a multimeter through the open service panel
Meter on the washer’s board — the reading decides, not the guess.
Derek metering a French-door refrigerator with both doors open and the tool bag staged
Derek on a cold-side call — probes logged before a single panel comes off.
Mary examining an open dishwasher rack with a flashlight in a navy kitchen
Racks out, rails lit — dishwasher faults get caught while they are still cheap.
Mary inspecting the control side of a stainless gas range with a flashlight, tool bag open on the floor
Mary reading a gas range’s control cluster — light first, meter second, verdict last.
Mary checking the drum and door of an opened dryer beside its matching washer
Door off, drum checked — the forty-minute standard starts with eyes on the hardware.
